The 2009 Mrs. Alabama, Jessica Elmes

The youngest of five children, Jessica Elmes learned that in order to be seen, sometimes you have to smile brightly, and in order to be heard, sometimes you have to sing loudly! She honed these skills on the stage in musical theater, and in front of the camera as a model. Her voice has been heard in productions throughout her hometown of Birmingham, and her image has been featured in both state and national publications.

Jessica is a 2006 graduate of Auburn University where she obtained a degree in nursing, and she is currently pursuing her nurse practitioner degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. A champion of women’s health, she has served as a volunteer and spokesperson for the Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation since 2004.

In March 2007, Jessica wed Thomas Elmes, a 1st Lieutenant in United States Army who is currently serving in Afghanistan.
